Behavioral Health Tech / Milieu Counselor – Make a Difference Every Day!
Location: Cambridge or Sommerville Mass

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Milieu Counselor to join our behavioral health team. In this role, you will create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment where patients can heal, grow, and regain stability. You’ll work directly with individuals in crisis—supporting emotional regulation, reinforcing treatment goals, and promoting positive coping skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic milieu environment.
- Model and teach appropriate social and coping behaviors.
- Support patients in daily routines, group activities, and community outings.
- Observe, document, and report behavioral or emotional changes.
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other team members to ensure individualized care.
- Intervene during crisis situations using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to care planning.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required;
- Experience in behavioral health, residential, or psychiatric settings preferred.
- Strong communication, empathy, and crisis-intervention skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive under pressure.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
