Mental Health Counselor (MHC)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, assisting them in their recovery journey. You will work closely with patients, healthcare professionals, and families to promote a safe and therapeutic environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about mental health and have experience working with diverse populations, including children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed professionals.
  • Monitor patient behavior and report any significant changes to the clinical team.
  • Provide support during therapeutic activities and group sessions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in case management tasks, ensuring that patients receive appropriate resources and referrals.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Conduct grief counseling sessions as needed, providing emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Utilize applied behavior analysis techniques to encourage positive behavioral changes among patients.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for all patients within the inpatient facility.
Qualifications

  • A degree or certification in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a mental health setting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and medical record management is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of case management principles and practices related to mental health care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and ethical standards in clinical practice.
