Behavioral Medicine Medical Director
We're seeking a contracted Behavioral Medicine Medical Director for our Behavioral Health Facility in Elgin, IL. To qualify for this role, you must be an Illinois-licensed Psychiatrist.
Responsibilities:
As the Facility Medical Director, you will be fully responsible for the administration of medical/clinical and psychiatric care services provided by the licensed medical staff
* Plan, develop, administer, and evaluate medical/clinical and psychiatric service care programs and services
* Establish and measure standards for services provided to patients, including Radiology, EEG/EKG, Laboratory, and contracted clinical services
* Establish measures and maintain adequate levels of and standards for medical care and treatment
* Serve as a full-line supervisor
* Assign and review work
* Provide guidance and training to assigned staff
* Counsel staff regarding work performance
* Reassign staff to meet day-to-day operating needs
* Establish annual goals and objectives
* Approve time off
Adjust first-level grievances
* Effectively recommend and impose discipline, up to and including discharge
* Prepare and sign performance evaluations
* Determine and recommend staffing needs
* Plan, administer, and evaluate the development and implementation of policies and directives, plus the recruitment and retention of medical staff personnel
* As the Chief Psychiatrist, maintain the level of staffing and documentation required by outside accrediting agencies for Psychiatric and Medical Services for patients
* Represent the hospital in dealing with recommendations of outside agencies or bodies concerning Psychiatric and Medical Services
* Serve as an active high-ranking member of key facility management and treatment committees, including the Hospital Executive Committee
* Plan, administer, and evaluate the development and implementation of policies and directives.
* Provide leadership in the long-range and short-term planning and development of policies and strategies for meeting goals and answering findings
* Travel in the performance of job duties
* Consult and confer with a variety of outside sources on behalf of the facility and patients, such as other medical facilities, the Coroner's Office, and other local, city, and state agencies
* Confer with relatives and advocates on behalf of patients.
Serve as Chairperson of the Facility Medical Staff Organization
* Participate in the Medical Staff Executive Council by attending meetings, submitting information, serving on task forces and committees, and adding to the discussions of pertinent issues
* Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and an American Board of Medical Specialties Certification, or its equivalent, in Psychiatry
* Requires three years of substantive medical administrative experience in directing, planning, and evaluating a medical/clinical program
* Requires the ability to supervise and coordinate staff and activities of other professional disciplines
* Requires the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with various professional disciplines
Hours:
The working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a required 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Pay: $150.00 per hour
